Day 3

Day 3 has come and almost gone. Dad continues to do well and we’re all so pleased. Dr. A and Dr. Toma were in to see him today and both said that he’s doing well. Right now he is on the epidural for pain control and it is very effective, tomorrow the epidural will be removed and he will be onto oral pain killers. After the last surgery he did very well, but this time there was more invasive things done so we’re praying that the pain killers will be just as effective. I’ll (Joy) will be heading home to my family tomorrow to make sure that the kids haven’t tied and gagged poor old Dan, and Amy will be here until Monday. So if you haven’t had a chance to stop by yet make sure to stop in and say Hi to her!

Continue to pray for:
- total and complete healing
- against infection
- that the repair to Dad’s colon will heal and that there will be no leaks
- that he will continue to cough to prevent pneumonia ( this is very painful for him)
- for effective pain control

Thank you so much for being our friends and loving and supporting us through this time in our life.

Day 2

Well, we’ve reached the end of Day 2. It was another good day. We keep remarking to each other how much better Dad seems to be doing this time. His colour is better and he appears to have more strength. What a wonderful answer to prayer. There were a handful of visitors and it really brightened our day. Amy wasn’t able to be with us a good part of the day as she came down with a terrible migraine, but she seems to be doing much better this evening. It’s really nice seeing some of the same nurses that we had last time, they really are a great bunch of girls with such wonderful personalities and bed side manners, they truly are a blessing.

So that’s about it for now, Dad’s doing wonderfully and we’re giving God the Glory for that. Please continue on in your prayers as there still is a good part of the journey still to travel.

Long Day but good news...

It was a long day, but such good news to share. Of course, the main reason you’re all reading this is because you care so much about Dad so I won’t hold you off and build anticipation. The surgery is seen as a success!! WOOWHOO! \o/

Dr A was able to remove the tumor and all visible signs of it. That’s the biggest news and our #1 prayer answered. But, like all Father’s, God has given Dad not just what he needed, but also supplied a want as well. Dr. A was able to reconnect Dad’s bowel, so no more colostomy!! This is a HUGE answer to prayer for Dad.

Amy and I both made it here ok last night, and along with Dan we were able to be with Mom and Dad today. Dad’s been a bit out of it today as can be expected after surgery. Please continue to pray for his recovery. Mostly for healing of the resected part of his colon. It’s very important that it heal well and there be no leaks. Dad will need to have follow up chemotherapy after his recovery.

So that is about it in a nutshell. We’re extremely tired tonight, but oh so happy and thankful.

I will attempt to write more tomorrow, but for right now I’m completely brain dead.

Thank you for your prayers, they have been so appreciated by our entire family.

PS Just so you know they don't start cooking pizza at the hospital til 1030.

Yesterday and Next Week

Hello All,
just wanted to give you a quick update on the appointments dad had yesterday. Everything went well. They were long but looks as though everything is a go ahead for Tuesday... we, yes i said we but i'll give you more details on that in a minute, have to be at the hospital at 6:30 Tuesday morning.

As for the we... i fly in monday night... and will be around until April 30. Jared isn't going to be able to make it out for this trip as the construction life is busy right now and it really didn't make sense to come out for just the weekend!!! Joy and Dan and kids are coming down for the day of the surgery and then timing is still a little up in the air how long they will be staying. So yeah it will be good to see many of you while I'm there.

So, prayer requests:
- Pray for wisdom for the doctors.
- Pray for quick recovery
- Pray for safe travels
- Pray for quick time adjustment for Amy
- Pray for Jared who can't be with us
- and anything else God places on your mind

So yeah well that's about it from me for now... I'm not sure what the internet access situation is going to look like while I am away so... yeah, it's not that i hate you if I don't reply to something.

In His Hands and that's all that matters really,
Amy for the crew
