Sorry its been so long...

Hello to all who still check this out. Sorry that we have been deliquent in updating this lately. Jared and I just got back from visiting mom and dad.

Dad seemed to be doing quite well. He gets tired easy but his appeitite sure isn't suffering. He's been off chemo for almost a month while the they have been working on thinning the blood clots. Dad feels like a pin cushion as there is a nurse that comes in the morning to take his blood (dad has nicknamed those nurses the vampires. then they test that blood and then in the afternoon another nurse comes and he gets the blood thinner needle in his stomach. Understandablely so dad's feeling like a bit of a pin cusion lately!

Dad was up and about some while we were there. He even tried to mow the lawn. But Jared ended up taking over for that. but he was helping around the house more this last week and they even went out to visit others. So that was good to see. He was spending more time out of his chair in the house and in mom's beautiful backyard.

While we were there there were a good number of visitors and this brightened both mom and dad's day. Thanks for stopping by!

This has all been stressful on mom too. She doesn't like to leave dad by himself... and i think part of it is dad doesn't like to be left alone either. So she's still working but mostly from home and when she does go it's just for short times.

Chemo starts again this Wednesday/Thursday. Dad got that call while we were there and you could tell just knowing that it was going to start again was hard. But this treatment will be the middle of treatments, so it will be half way done. If for some reason dad can't take this one (too weak, not feeling well, etc.) they will stop chemo for good.

So here's how you can pray...
- Pray the dad will feel well enought to take the chemo this week.
- Pray for mom - this is stressful on her too
- Pray for complete healing
- Pray for energy and positive attidudes

Praise
- Dad's been sleeping alright
- he's been feeling quite a bit better and up and around doing things

Hey and remember a phone call from friends brightens dad's day and visits from family and friends brightens both of there days. And if the weather is nice you can even hang out in the backyard with them. Just give them a call or stop by for a short visit.

Okay that's it for now! I'll try and be better at keeping you posted!

Hi Everyone! Just a quick update. Dad had his blood counts redone and it appears that he was EXACTLY on the borderline number for recieving a transfussion. The doctor decided to not do the transfussion. The chemo therapy is still on hold due to his blood count. He continues to improve daily without being on the chemo. In laymen's terms, the chemo was really kicking his butt. The break from the chemo is a welcome one, however there is the concern about what are the ramifications concerning hte cancer about the delay in the full course of the treatment.

Things to pray for: - blood cell count to RISE!!
- blood clots in lungs to break down and disappear
- all cancer GONE!
- Dad's strength
- For wellness in body, mind and spirit.
- the return of energy
- good sleep
- the PICC line to stop getting clogged
Thank you for your prayers.
As you can imagine, this is a very trying time for dad. To not have energy and feel like himself is very upsetting.
Next weekend Amy and Jared will be flying in so our whole family (minus Dan in NC) will beable to be together.
I know we're all looking forward to it!

And more news...

August 02, 2007 at 09:59 AM EDT
Good Morning everyone.

Mom and Dad received a call this morning from the doctor that dad's blood counts are way too low. He was asked to come in immediately to have the blood tests redone. If they are still as low he will be receiving a blood transfusion tomorrow. We continue to pray for complete healing, and for complete restoration of his body.
Please pray with us!

They say more or less the same thing

I really did try and update both but it didn't happen for some reason in Carepages... so it's more of less the same thing but yeah... keeping them the same!

Hi everyone!

I apologize for not updating sooner. Last week after recieving the results of his blood tests it was decided by his oncologist to delay chemo. He also wanted a CATscan of Dad's abdomen, mostly to take a peak at the surgery sight to see if there was any infection that may be causing some of problems he has been experiencing. Dad had the CATscan on July 31, and within a very short time after arriving home they received a call from one of his (many) doctors that had received the results of the CATscan, asking them to go to the emergency room. It appears that Dad has a blood clot in the lower quadrant of each of his lungs. He went to the emergency room to receive blood thinners (through injection) and to possibly stay over night. He received the medication and was sent home. Thank God for Dr.Chan wanting a CATscan!! We are just so thankful that this was found, and is now being dealt with. Aparantly blood clots in the lungs are not an uncommon side affect of chemo. Please pray with us that these clots will disappear in the Name of Jesus!!! ~Joy for the Whole Family
