IT'S THE LAST DAY!!! C'mon everyone, do the happy dance with us!!! \o/ \o/ \o/
We'll be knowing more in the upcoming weeks as to when the following surgery will be and there will more than likely be follow up chemotherapy to ensure that every last itty bit of that cancer is gone.

This week mom and dad made their reservation for camping in August. It was so wonderful to hear that they're planning for their annual camping trip. Of course, my kids were thrilled as mom and dad always take them for a while and it was one of the first things the kids asked about when they heard opa was sick.

Thank you for your prayers through this leg of the journey. Without a doubt, your prayers and our good Lord have made all the difference in the world. Dad has a few more hurdles to overcome, but the finish line seems so close now!!

On a personal note, as some of you know my husband Dan has been layed off from work again. This has come as quite a blow to our family as this is the second time in less than a year. Please pray for us as we go through this, that we'll be re-employed quickly and if it's not TOO much to ask that he would beable to find employement OUT of the automotive sector. Unfortunately, in talking with hiring agents, this is the nature of the beast when it comes to the automotive sector. Oh, and if anyone needs a Mechanical Engineer.. please call! :D Thank you for your prayers ~Joy

opps

Thanks Tricia -- typed April when it should have been March... Anyone want to be my proof reader?!? ~ Amy

Contunied from yesterday...

Alright So I am back and I have a little more time to write up the latest report.

So as I wrote before chemo is done -- there may have to be more after the operation but that's not be determined yet!

Mom and dad will have to start calling Dr A. office again on Monday to set up the pre-surgery appointments. This is kinda exciting as it means that dad's treatments are coming to an end!

At last night's raditation dad was supposed to get results from the xrays that he had on monday but Dad doesn't remember what they said and mom isn't home. She's the one that writes everything down. What dad does remember is that the x-rays don't tell much when it come to the radiation treatments. There may be more info when I get a chance to talk to mom.

Last treatment date for radiation has been set for newxt Wednedsay - March 14... so that means tonight and then 3 more treatments! Isn't that exciting.

With Chemo and radiation treatments done that means that an operation date can be at least discussed. It appears that the surgery will be no ealier than April 20th. (as the radiation and chemo are active for a while after they end).

MAJOR PRAYER REQUEST
In talking with the doctor there is concern that the colon may not be able to be reconnected! This is a BIG prayer request especially for Dad. He mentions it everytime we talk. Please pray that the doctor will be able to reconnect the colon. Prayer that God's healing hand with stretch and re-size/reshape the colon and there will be no reason that it can not be reconnected! Without this re-connection he will need to keep the cathitor and he would really like to get rid of it as is has caused greater stress then was explained for both mom and dad!

So yeah that's the news I know!

Thanks again to everyone that has been there to support through prayers, visits, calls and driving. I'm sure some of the drivers won't know what to do with themselves in the evenings now! If you show up on mom and dad's doorstep they may even get in the car with you and drive around a bit if you're going through driving withdrawl!

Take Care
With Love

It's been a week... sorry for the quietness on this end.

Today was a big day... the END of the chemo treatment. Dad saw the doctor and everything looks good.

WinterWonderLand

Hello all,
Just a quick update because when I called mom was already in bed... oops!!!
But you never know with mom...
she's up late some nights and other nights she does to bed early!

As you Ontarioians know the weather is not so great! Due to weather tonight there was no trip into TO. So that means that there will be one more night of treatments at the end of the treatments.

Also the news on the Chemo treatments is that Dad has one more week with the chemo bottle and it will be removed next Thursday.
That's the news thank you so much for being a part of this journey with us!
Good Night all (though most who check this out are already in bed)!
Amy
